For the first time in program history Del Oro qualified all fourteen weights to the Sac Joaquin Section Masters Tournament. As a team Del Oro finished in first place ahead of Folsom and Elk Grove (304.5 points, 276.5, and 238, respectively). The team was able to capitalize on bonus points, finishing 40 matches by pin or tech fall, and going 10 for 14 in medal matches to push ahead for the first place finish. Wyatt Alexander and Patrick Bailey lost early in the tournament but were able to rebound with four wins apiece to take third. In their third place matches Kam Rush and Breyden Rush had rematches of the previous week’s SFL Championship match where both had lost; this time, however, both wrestlers beat their Folsom opponent to finish on a win.
Up next in the post season is the Sac Joaquin Section Masters Tournament in Stockton. The top 6 wrestlers at each weight at Masters will qualify for the CIF State Tournament in Bakersfield.
