The Del Oro High girls’ water polo team finished second in the Sierra Foothill League with a 16-10 record and earned the two-seed in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division II playoffs.
The team likely wouldn’t have made it to the postseason if it weren’t for senior 2MD, or middle defender, Heidi Green who has totaled 103 goals and 23 assists for the Lady Eagles this season.
Green is ninth in the nation in scoring and sixth in California. Despite losing 11-9 on Oct. 25 against Granite Bay High, Green helped Del Oro High come back in the match with seven goals.
The Golden Eagles faced Bella Vista High on Thursday, after press time.
