Del Oro Boys Wrestling started the post season with an outstanding performance at the Sierra Foothill League Tournament, qualifying all fourteen wrestlers for the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Divison 1 Tournament. The Eagles put ten wrestlers into the finals and left with seven champions.
Kam Rush (144 lbs) entered the tournament as the #2 seed to #1 Kai Yi-Berg (Folsom HS), having lost to Yi-Berg 8-1 earlier in the season. Rush had finished second place at the SFL Tournament three times in his career; however, this time he capitalized on a third period takedown and two nearfall points to defeat Yi-Berg 5-3 and earn his first SFL title.
Jamison French (165 lbs) also the #2 seed at his weight, made it to the finals to set up a rematch against #1 Kayden Hoang (Folsom HS). Hoang had beaten French in a tight 6-5 in the 157 lbs finals at the 2024 SFL Tournament. This time French was about to outlast Hoang with a 8-6 win and notch his first SFL title as well.
Next on the post season journey is the Sac Joaquin Section Division 1 Tournament at Lincoln HS (Stockton). The top 8 in each weight class will move on to the SJS Masters tournament at Stockton Arena the following weekend.
