Del Oro Varsity 916 stayed local to compete at the Tim Brown Memorial Tournament at Veterans Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento. The team took 8th overall with three placers: Eli Berry (6th 126 lbs), Logan Alexander (4th 132 lbs), and Evan Hilmen (6th 175 lbs). Unseeded Berry lost to the #2 seed Jovani Sandoval (Elk Grove) first round and then won six matches in a row to face Sandoval again in the conso semis. The loss in the conso semis maxed out Berry’s match count for the day and left him at 6th place. Logan Alexander lost in the quarterfinals to eventual champion Landon Salindong (Durham HS) but finished in 4th place.
