Del Oro Varsity Wrestling returned to the 559 to participate in the brutally competitive Zinkin Classic (Buchanan HS), moving up from last year’s 6th place finish to 5th place overall. The team brought eleven wrestlers and moved eight on to the second day but was only able to place four. Declan Leonard dropped a close 6-4 loss to Jax Vang (Buchanan HS, #5 in CA) in the semifinals but bounced back with two wins to finish third. Also placing were Benson Tanner (5th 106 lbs), Nate Mitchell (4th 126 lbs), and Jamison French (6th 165 lbs).
Next up for the Eagles is the Sierra Nevada Classic in Reno on DEC 29.
