Del Oro’s 530 Varsity Squad competed at the Battle of the Buttes Tournament, placing eleven wrestlers and taking 2nd overall at a team. The team fell behind 1st place Durham HS but pulled ahead at the end to beat 3rd place Pleasant Grove HS (Elk Grove) by 4.5 points. In the 175 lbs semifinals match sophomore Liam Brunton overcame an early 6-2 deficit and scored four points in the last round to win 9-8. He advanced to the championship but lost to Riley Knight (Inderkum HS) to finish second place.
Next on the schedule is a home SFL match against Rocklin on Tuesday and the Zinkin Classic (Buchanan HS) on Friday.
