Del Oro’s Varsity Wrestling team started off their tournament competition at the Vista Eagle Invitational at Vista Del Lago HS this weekend. The Eagles placed fourteen wrestlers, including three individual champions. Declan Leonard (120 lbs) and Justus Spillner (175 lbs) won their brackets with bonus points in every match, including a technical fall and a major decision in the finals, respectively. Chase Young (165 lbs) defeated Kayden Hoang (Folsom HS, #26 in CA) 5-2 in the finals to take first place. Overall the team took second place behind 1st place Folsom and ahead of 3rd place Whitney HS. Next up for Del Oro is an away match at Jesuit HS against host Jesuit and Davis HS on Tuesday.
