John Hilton
Coach John Hilton grew up in Ukiah, CA where he attended and graduated from Ukiah High School. He grew up playing football, basketball, track, and baseball. In 1984 Hilton earned the athlete of the Year award for male athlete at Ukiah High School.
After high school, Hilton attended and played football at Sacramento State University. He went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. Following Sacramento State, Hilton earned his teaching credential through Chapman University.
After earning his degree and teaching credential, Hilton would continue his love for athletics by coaching 3 sports. About to start his 32nd year of coaching football, he has coached 26 seasons at the high school level and 6 years at the collegiate level. Before coming to Del Oro, Coach Hilton was the defensive coordinator for Sierra College. In 2012, Hilton was coach of the year at Golden Sierra High School and in 1998 the same for Placer High School. During this time Hilton also coached high school basketball for 26 seasons and baseball/softball for 14 seasons. In 2014, Hilton earned Coach of the Year honors while helping the Placer Hillmen baseball team to section finalist.
John Hilton is about to begin his 2nd year teaching at Del Oro High School after 27 years at Placer High School. He resides in Lincoln, CA with his wife Julie and daughters Olivia (16) and Carly (14) both students at Lincoln High School. Coach Hilton loves the outdoors and enjoys hiking with his dog Phil.
